Steve Fernino

You could say that Steve has been around the DJ and music industry all of his life. His father was a well-known music educator and many of his family are also accomplished musicians. His brother Mike, along with their father, started Music In Motion Entertainment back in 1984.

Steve officially started his DJ career in 1989 when his father, who was Mike’s assistant, got too ill to continue going on gigs. Steve had actually already been helping out with school dances and parties as far back as 1986. While he originally started as a roadie, Steve quickly progressed to board operator, and then a full fledged DJ/entertainer in his own right. Together Steve, along with brother Mike, evolved into one of New England’s first interactive teams.

Steve has always been comfortable around DJ, sound, and lighting equipment. At a young age, he helped his father build several of Mike’s earliest DJ systems. Today, Steve designs and builds all of the sound and lighting systems for Music In Motion. Denon DJ Steve Fernino He has also been an equipment roadtest and reviewer for several DJ trade publications. Steve continued this tradition by being hand selected and certified in 2004 & 2005 by Denon DJ as an endorsed clinician and “Denon DJ.”

Steve has served as a past moderator and administrator at several DJ industry chat forums. He co-founded DJ Idea Sharing with his brother Mike in 2001. Steve co-organized the first 4 DJ Idea Sharings and acted as the event coordinator for DJIS 9 at Sam Ash of New Haven and the audio, video, and lighting supervisor for DJISX at the Mobile Beat Summer Xpo. Steve concepted the Professional Disc Jockeys of New England (PDJNE) in 2001 and founded it in 2003.

Additionally, Steve serves as the webdesigner for the DJ Idea Sharing website, the technical coordinator for live DJIS events, the producer of the new DJ Idea Sharing Podcast Network and the chief moderator at the DJ Idea Sharing forum.
